I love mobiles, and I have done for years. I've followed the UK mobile industry avidly since 1999, and have spent a huge amount of time assessing various networks and their prices since 2005. It amazes me at how expensive - and cheap - mobiles and mobile tariffs can be.
My first contract mobile was great value, but after many years of handset contracts I decided to save myself some money by buying SIM free handsets and using PAYG. Then bundles arrived about the same time that smartphones really took off, and I've been hunting for the best value ever since.
I still use basic (feature) phones, along with smartphones, with a range of networks, though I must add that I currently refuse to be tied in to a contract after being a contract customer for many years.
Presently I use giffgaff (click here for a free SIM with £5 of free credit when you activate it) as I can choose a bundle that suits my usage, along with buying a different bundle early if I run out of minutes or data, plus I save a fortune by using the free giffgaff to giffgaff calls and texts (which don't require a monthly minimum top up).
I also use Three because their 3G coverage is pretty good.

I also have a mobile industry blog HERE where I occasionally review networks and cast my cynical eye over the UK mobile industry, along with interesting findings in the UK mobile market and tech industry.

If you are wondering about my Twitter profile, @aiikon1 - it's simply my nod to Nokia (my favourite phone manufacturer), and if you follow my giffgaff affiliate link to obtain a free sim with £5 of free credit, don't worry: Terran_Federation is my homage to the 1970s/early 1980s BBC sci-fi series Blakes 7.
